Community Outreach & Events Coordinator

San Antonio, United States

Position Overview

Alamo Tech Collective is expanding into a connected network of tech meetups centered around the Zelifcam / ATC Hackerspace. We’re looking for a part-time Community Outreach & Events Coordinator to help make that ecosystem work in practice.

This role is about people, presence, and follow-through. You’ll help bring meetup groups into the space, support organizers, and make sure events run smoothly. This is not a marketing role. It’s about showing up, making connections, and helping the local tech community thrive.

ZELIFCAM x ALAMO TECH COLLECTIVE (ATC)

Zelifcam is a San Antonio–based software company with over 20 years of experience building custom technology for organizations across a wide range of industries. We value clear communication, thoughtful collaboration, and work that delivers real results.

Alamo Tech Collective (ATC) is a community-driven network of developers, designers, founders, and builders. ATC’s mission is to create a shared hub where independent tech groups can meet, overlap, and collaborate, centered around the Zelifcam / ATC Hackerspace.

Together, Zelifcam and ATC support both professional software development and grassroots community growth. This role sits at the intersection of both: employed by Zelifcam, while actively supporting and representing the ATC community and its events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule tech meetups and community events at the Zelifcam / ATC Hackerspace
  • Communicate with meetup organizers to support planning, logistics, and scheduling
  • Act as a welcoming, on-site presence during events when needed
  • Help ensure events run smoothly and hosts have a low-stress experience
  • Share event reminders, updates, and follow-ups in Discord
  • Build and maintain relationships with local tech communities and organizers
  • Surface ideas for new events or reactivating past meetups within the ATC network
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating events, meetups, or community programs
  • Familiarity with tech, startup, or maker communities
  • Experience supporting or moderating online communities
  • Comfortable doing light outreach to community organizers or partners
  • Experience working in a coworking space, hackerspace, or community hub
  • Self-directed and comfortable working with minimal oversight

Required Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both online and in person
  • Comfortable engaging with people in group settings and one-on-one
  • Organized, reliable, and able to follow through on details
  • Comfortable using Discord or similar community platforms
  • Able to work part-time on an as-needed basis, including some evenings
  • Based in or near San Antonio and able to attend events on-site\
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Community Impact

A chance to play a direct role in shaping and supporting the local tech community through meetups, events, and shared space collaboration.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate enjoys being the connective tissue of a community and is comfortable wearing a few hats as needed. This role is a great fit for someone who is naturally welcoming, enjoys meeting new people, and feels at ease starting conversations both online and in person. You’re organized, dependable, and able to follow through on details without close oversight, even when plans shift. You don’t need to be a developer or have a technical background, but you should be curious about tech communities and comfortable representing both Zelifcam and Alamo Tech Collective in a professional, approachable way. This position works especially well for someone who enjoys part-time, event-based work, values clear communication, and takes pride in helping things run smoothly behind the scenes.
